Skywatch Friday-A glimpse of what I see

The two pictures above were taken a week ago. I was up at the mall and had to take some pictures of it. We have been having a lot of gray skies lately, and this lifted my spirits.

A crow chasing a Red Tailed Hawk??

Lastly I picture I took today. If you look at the sun you may see the face of a boy with a hat on. That is what I see at least. ;o)

Lovely captures! Love your altocumulus! Don't see the boy, but the obscured sun is dramatic!

I can hear the Red Tail now: "Go away! I'm not dead yet!" Classic shot!

Hey Kallen--I love to look at the sky and see 'things.' YES---I can see the boy with a hat on!!!! When I was a little girl, I'd lie down in the grass and look at the sky---trying to make shapes and faces out of the clouds. That was SO much fun!!!

Love your sky pictures today.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love the shot with the crow chasing the hawk! But the boy with the hat? I see a little kitten....the tale to the right. But that is the beauty of looking at clouds, we don't see the same!

The skies never stop to surprise us! Oneday peaceful and empty another time threatening with dark clouds. In your case the skies are beautiful!

All very nice, but the bird one is a real thrillah!

I LOVE it when a smaller bird chases a BIG one. Kind of explains the idiom "bird brain' meaning not too smart. ;-)

Beautiful skies. A crow chasing a hawk? is right!

Cotton-candy clouds. I'm always amazed at seeing smaller birds chase large hawks. I know it's not as dangerous as it looks, but still ...

I forgot to say I like your header collage. Did you make that on Picasso? Were you able to drag the pics and tilt them the way you wanted?

Kim said...

Sue, yes I did it in Picassa and it is super easy!! I love Picassa!

Thanks Kallen,
I am going to go check it out.

That looks very much like what I've seen around here in SE Mo lately! Great shots for SWF!

Hi Kallen, the cloud shots are beautiful. It is always amazing to me how we can see different things in the clouds continuously as they change. Brigitte and I love watching clouds because of the things we see in them.

The crow chasing the Red-tailed Hawk is a very typical behavior among birds. Smaller birds will often harass or "mob" birds of prey to get them out of their territory. Crows are one of the most common culprits but many birds sound alarms when raptors come around.

I wrote a post on mobbing behavior here if you are interested

I forgot to say I saw the little boy. It reminds me of a young Amish boy with a straw hat.
