Sorry for the picture not being very clear. Can someone help me identify this bird. At first I thought it was a nuthatch but it doesn't have the bill of one. Then I thought it was a golden crowned
kinglet, but again it doesn't fit the bill (pun intended) and didn't exhibit
kinglet behaviour.
Thanks and today was awesome! I have a ton of pictures and will post them later.

Never mind I think. I believe it is a white throated sparrow in an extremely funky position.
I think you are correct on that...
Yes Kallen I think you got it right.
That was my first impression as well. Any way it could be a White-Crowned?
have a great GBBC!

Yup, I say white-throated sparrow too--that little bit of yellow by his eye confirms it.
I'll go with the funkadelic White-throated, too. You can just see the yellow lores, and a White-crowned should have a pinker bill and an eye-ring, although that can be difficult because of the the lighting.
It looks like a Harry woodpecker to me but it's hard to tell.
The White-throated Sparrow is the winner! The White-crowned has black lores. Must be one of your 21 species of the day?
I am sooooo green with envy. I did get 14 species though!
Another one I have never even heard of.

Well I first questioned whether is was a White Crowned or White throated...from what I have seent the white throated sparrow actually has the white throat..and I don't reall see that in this picture...which then got me thinking maybe it is a white crowned...but through further investigation I see that the white crowned generally has yellow or pinkish bill....this bill is generally not that and the bill certainly resembles that of the white throated.....
Thanks for this...I have learn't alot....cheers...
