Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!!

I think I am starting to get a better understanding on why the Graylag Goose is as bitter and rude as he is. You see, I think the goose actually thinks its a Canada Goose as it is always part of their flock. The goose is probably confused regarding its appearance compared to his adopted family.

The poor goose probably looks at the lovely profile of the Canada Goose and wonders how come its features are so soft and delicate. Notice the pretty, black beak and those soulful little eyes perched upon plumage that is pleasant to the eye. Now don't get me wrong here, I do know that Canada Geese are invasive, dirty and tend to bully, but their beauty kind of makes up for it in a way.

There is no way the poor Graylag can compare. If you look at it long enough you can appreciate its features (except for the beak that looks like a serrated edged knife). It's eyes are appealing if stare into them long enough and his feathers look soft and gentle. But yet, he knows that he is Jan and the Canada Goose is Marcia. So that is my theory. This poor bird is suffering from the Jan Brady complex.

Next time I see him, I will smile and not recoil in fear. After all we all feel like Jan Brady every once in a while.

The end until I meet up with him again.

Oh how cute, Kim.... You have such a great imagination and creativity... I love this post...

You can also compare the Jan Humans ---with the Marcia Humans.... Guess it works the same with us humans!!!! Some of us are pretty and some of us are not so pretty---unless you/we can see through the outside--and look for the beauty inside!!!!!

Have a great Easter.
Hugs,
Betsy

Poor guy. They're all grumpy though if you ask me. What is their problem anyway? Personally I think the orange is pretty cool! Especially around the eyes. He's mixing things up a bit.

You have me laughing now! How clever you are at story telling.

I loved this post! I like geese because they not only tolerate getting their pictures taken, they seem to enjoy it. Canada Geese do look beautiful, but the Graylag Goose has it's own good qualities.

The Graylag should learn to appreciate it's uniqueness in the flock of Canada Geese. Then it will see it is beautiful in it's own way. :)

Appropriate photo you ended with, there! Greylags were the most common goose we'd see in the Netherlands, but now I only see Canada Geese here in northern Illinois. Your post kind of made me homesick! I like the pinkish orange bills on the Greylags.

...I really love the color of their bills...and the eyeliner around his eyes! Poor thing doesn't realize how cool he is!

Maybe it is just a lonesome goose. It does look kinda sad. Maybe it just needs a mate. Helen

Great series Kim!

The Greylag must be an escapee and is just trying to fit in with the Canada's. As far as I am aware, all Greylag Geese in North America are domestic escapees. Hybridization is common with the Canada Geese.

You want to see a bird with a complex, Google Greylag x Canada Goose, some really strange looking birds show up.

Love the "yarn" on this one..poor Jan..she's not appearing on tv telling it all on the rest of the duck fam is she??
I do like the up close pic of the graylag and esp the orange ring around its eye..funky edge to his bill as you pointed out! I've never seen a graylag..and appreciated your head shot..tons of C. geese tho..all Marcias I'm sure but with the personality of House!
Loved that last shot and the way you use it to end your post!! What a fanny!!

Back at my Dad's farm we have two geese and one's name is Gaston and he looks just like this goose. And BOY does he have a sour attitude!

I like the Graylag Goose better than the Canada Goose for a variety of reasons. But your photos of them all are very nice.

Poor guy has a full diaper there, it looks like. Bet that's what is making him rude and anti-social.
