Where are all the Cardinals?

I don't get many cardinals which is unusual considering I had quite a few of them this summer when my mulberry tree was full of fruit. I used to watch the male cardinal feed the female cardinal berries and my heart would melt.

Now that it is winter I get 2 or 3 of them at a time max and that is rare. I took this photo on Saturday and am thrilled that it came out all right. This is my first picture of a female cardinal so am happy I was able to get it.

I guess I will just have to wait until May to see them all come back again.

Nice photo of your female - she looks very plump and healthy! I've only had a couple cardinals here and there too.

Nice photo! I get the same pattern here at my place (VA). I had some coming to the feeders this summer but very few this winter. Hopefully they will show up again soon!

Nice that you are getting a few cardinals anyway...
Happy birding...

Kallen, This must be Cardinal Blogging day--since I blogged about ours also. We still have them--but not as much as we did in Summer/Fall. Just wait a few months and they'll be back!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

She is so pretty. I have a pair that come to my feeder every day, I love that they are together even in the winter.

I never see more than one pair at my feeders, and only occasionally. Rarely, I'll see juveniles with the pair, but they are just not around here as much for some reason. Sweet photo Kallen!

Nice shot Kallen. I'm down to just one pair this winter. Usually many more. Strange.

Great Photo!

Time goes so fast. Soon we will be saying, 'where did winter go.'

Maybe they're like Blue Jays - some migrate and some stick around? I like they lady you got to pose.

Kallen, I have a very low cardinal count in the winter. I guess they go elsewhere. They return to me in the spring and summer though, and I look forward to that.
