My 100th Bird for the Year!! Guess Who!!!

96.. Black & White Warbler. Lifer!!!!

97...Chestnut-sided Warbler...Lifer!!!!!!

98.......Common-yellowthroat Warbler.....Lifer!!!!!

99.........Blue-headed Vireo.....Lifer!!!!

And number 100.....Drumroll please............The humble yet lovable Ovenbird. Lifer!!!! Of course my number 100 was one of the most difficult bird to photograph as it is so skittish hence the lousy photo. You would think I would be happy to stop at 100, but that is impossible for someone as obsessive/compulsive as I. Ready for more????!!!! Good, me too!!

101........Red-breasted Nuthatch...Lifer!!!!! I couldn't get a photo to do this one justice so this will have to do for now.

102............Swamp Sparrow........Another bird difficult to photograph. I guess I had better get used to it......I will be leaving at 6am tomorrow for more!! My new goal is 110 for by next Sunday. Let's see if I can do it!!!

Seriously, the 100 birds I have seen this year have been fantastic. Each and every one of them in their own way. I am glad I could share some of my birds with all and in return see all of yours. Blogging is one of the many things that has kept me motivated to bird as seriously as I do. I would also like to give thanks to a few people who have really helped me in my birding the past few weeks.

Special thanks for Fran who always offers me words of wisdom and makes me stop to think of birds and their behaviour. Fran has decades of birding experience behind him and I consider it an honor whenever he teaches me something new. I hope one day I too can teach others about birds but I am still learning myself. Thanks to Joan as well for use of her spare boots when I was unprepared and her words of encouragement on my blog. Joan is another very experienced birder and its nice to have fellow female birders out there to learn from and bird with.

Special thanks to both Beth and Paul who helped me pick up a couple of these lifers. Beth and I email each other often and she has taught me so much through her patience and her good ears and eyes that I have yet to have. Looking forward to more birding with both of you!!

And last but by no means least, a VERY SPECIAL thank you to Alan who I consider my birding mentor of sorts. If I had never met up with Alan, I would still be going to all of the same spots and looking at a lot of the same birds. Alan has taught me so much in the past few weeks than I have learned during the past few months of my birding. He also has the patience of a saint watching me attempt to take pictures of birds with my camera and its lack of adequate zoom. You are the best Alan and I am so thankful to have met you.

Peace all and get out there and bird!!!

That was SO exciting!! And TBC, of course! (to be continued). I love the call of the RB Nuthatch - such a loud voice for a such a diminutive bird!

Fantastic achievement. It is great to see how your confidence has grown throughout the journey from the 'Kitche Window Birder' to exploring new territories with new friends. You are already teaching others by sharing what you see via your blog. In the race for new ticks just don't forget to enjoy those birds you already know very well.
Congrats & hugs...FAB

Congratulations on reaching 100 (and counting)! I totally appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'm glad you're getting out there to see more and more new birds, but remember that getting photos for us to see isn't always necessary. We will believe you even if the photo op doesn't work out... Remember to sit back and really enjoy those birds!!! Have fun, and bird on!!!!

Kim, it appears you are the go-to gal these days for birds! Can't say I've seen most of these birds myself so good for you!

Congratulations! With the exception of the red-breasted nuthatch, they're all new to me. You inspire me to get out and about more with my camera in tow.
