Forbush Bird Club Trip Sunday-April 26th

I went on my second trip with the Forbush Bird Club and was able to get decent views of birds despite the second day of hot temps. The first picture is of an Osprey carrying a twig of sorts to a potential nest.
This potential nest is on the lights to a Little League Field. They have one right across from this which was pretty substantial in comparison to the one in the picture above. Needless to say I am hoping they abandon this one as well as this is certainly not the best place for them to be nesting.

My second day of seeing a White Throated Sparrow. I love the yellow they get with the spring. I will miss them when they head up north.

A Black Capped Chickadee on a snag. I love how it is looking up toward the sky.

A regular bird of mine that I never tire of seeing. This beautiful little Palm Warbler.

A picture of a Northern Rough Winged Swallow. It was a real treat seeing them up close because they would actually stay still long enough for a photograph! Very pretty birds.

Last but not least, a Chipping Sparrow. I have never heard a CS sing before and am only used to its familiar chip as it forages in my yard. I am telling you this little guy can sing for being such a tiny bird!

That's all for today. I am exhausted due to three days of hard birding and high temps. Time to chill out and get ready for the work week. I will touch base again in a few days as I am planning on cutting back on some of my blogging for the next couple of weeks. Peace all.

Look like you HAVE been a busy person, Kim!! I seemed to have missed a few posts and just got done enjoying your towhee pictures! Wow They ARE a difficult bird to capture..always on the move..good shot of that palm warbler and you always seem to find those raptors carrying sticks to a nest!!! Envious here!!
I also saw a chipping sparrow yesterday on a bird walk, such a sweet face and lovely song!
Hang in there, I'm sure this weather is just a tease..and next week we will see cooler temps!
Glad you got in three days of birding..what a great weekend!!

Hi Kim, I know you must be tired.. Three days in SUMMER heat??? That's enough to wear you out!!!! Glad you had a good time though and saw many great birds.

Your White Throated Sparrow looks a little like the female Rose-breasted Grosbeak. I'll email you a picture of her... We still have our Grosbeaks--and yesterday, I got my first picture of the female. She (like the male) has a HUGE beak.

Hugs,
Betsy

That's a dandy Osprey flight shot Kim! I love the composition of the Swallow shot.

Sorry to hear you are cutting back on your blog posts. I'll miss getting my dose of your excellent posts. :(

Nice pictures Kim! Glad you had a nice, sunny day for birding.
I saw my first rough-winged swallows of the year last evening, but mine weren't as willing to be photographed as yours.

That chickadee looked like he was imitating a woodpecker with that stance on that snag! So cute!! Great photos today.

We've been having extra warm temps too - it's too early! Great sightings though Kim. We had a torrential storm last night and saw toads all over the highway - really bizarre....

Great Pictures: Hot weather. We got up to 55 degrees in Juneau and we had sun too. Keep up the birding!

I like the osprey picture. Birds in flight are always fun. And it still amazes me to see how many different types of sparrows exist.

...sounds like a very fun time. I really like birding with a group of people. I did my first bird walk on Saturday. I love the swallow photo (the angle and the softness are artistic and interesting).

I've just caught up with your last few posts. Haven't you been busy with lots of great sightings & photos to match. I can understand why you need a rest. Loved the Eastern Towhee, that's a new one for me with that fab faned tail. Our early spring sunshine has now changed to rain & more rain! Lol FAB

You got some terrific shots! I need to find a group like this to belong to. That Chickadee shot is so cute! Love the swallow, too! I'll have to start looking up at lights for osprey nests. Wonderful post!

Nice flight shot of the Osprey! Also-interesting photo of the Chickadee. That's an interesting name for a bird club.-Their name doesn't have anything to do with their politics does it? -just kidding.
